  one of our most dogmatic, authoritarian elders at the congregation i used to attend made this comment.. .

  the wts has beat the drum of absolute authority so long and hard that the idea of free will, or even the notion of a god who might take in to consideration the wants, likes, and desires of his own people has been strangled out of the jw psychology.. .

  in one of his talks, brother that's final informed the congregation that it is pointless for us to engage in speculation about how our lives will be in the new system.

  JW Celebrities , Do you think they have anything more than a superficial understanding of Watchtower beleifs ?

  this is just something that has crossed my mind in the past , with ones such as the williams sisters ( tennis stars ) george benson ( music ) prince (pop star / music ) and the like, do you think they have any real indepth knowledge of the teachings of the watchtower bible & tract society ?

  ( jehovahs witnesses ) or are they just superficial beleivers ,what`s the latest fad in religion scenario , and once in, it`s not cool to break with it in a hurry.

  maybe you can think of a few more celebrities that can be added here.. what`s your thoughts ?.

  so in speaking to a non-jw relative the other day, i find that my mother has been quite active on the gossip circuit.

  my relative knew certain details about me that only my mother and a couple others knew.

  of the three, my mother is by far the most inclined to speak maliciously about it.

  Has anyone ever used a non-NWT (New World Translation) bible at meetings / study?

  about 1 year ago (before i faded), i purchased an old king james bible from ebay and started using it in the meetings and when a brother came over to study with me.. a common reaction of fellow jws was to stare at the bible, then say "what type of bible is that?

  ", then they'd sometimes ask to look at it, and flip to john 1:1. when they saw what it said, they'd treat it like it was apostate material, even though a few decades earler it was the same bible jws used.. i strongly encourage any lurkers/faders to use another bible at the meetings and see what type of reactions you get.. .

  perhaps i've just been logging on at the right time but i've seen no insane eschatology or prophecy from our resident messiah/prophets and of course, rick isn't spamming the board and everything just seems .

  ohiocowboy has just posted this information on the two other threads dealing with the sudden collapse of the unthank cases.. i don't know steven unthank, but i just want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for having the courage against overwhelming odds to try and bring the watch tower society to justice over their deplorable neglect when it comes to protecting children from abuse and molestation.. steven is a man of justice and integrity who i deeply admire.

  his actions will never be forgotten, and i only hope he can find it within himself to continue his work in whatever avenue may become available in the future.. they have won this battle, but they can never win the war.. .
